Cool... it's way too hot to do anything during the day here (if it can be avoided) LOL Today is about 110 and earlier it was about 37 percent humidity, and that high humidity for us. Probably good for painting though... Have ya been gettin in some good rides ? I've been able to sneek a few, in between Larry's trike. Too hot to ride now anyway, unless I head for the hills early morning, but thats when I close up shop, and im too tired to even think of riding... I'd rather ride in the rain than this heat !!! LOL (slight exaggeration)

We got the tanks painted yester day, one clear coated, other one wasn't 'quite dry' don't know why. Will let it set in the sun till Sat. Daughter bought me some gold leaf for fathers day, wife gonna have stencils cut at work...will have "Hillbilly Express" in gold leaf on side of tanks. Motor is here along with all the goodies for it..tin has been painted International Yellow and clear coated. Generator has been gutted out with only the shaft running through it to turn fan, with a Chevie 65 amp alt hanging off to the right side
Frame is coming along fine..will have wiring run through the frame..got the holes in it yester day..is ready to put the back wheels on and line up front end weld on the neck...cage will be next. have the brackets made for the masters..framing for the floor boards are welded on, also have the aluminum tread plate for them.. Brake backing plates has been modified ala Fat Mike with 3\16 plate welded inside to run bolts through for the bottom brackets for the fenders...will send Kliff a pick of this so he can post it..should work great with what I'm going to do.. Found out that local hydraulic hose company has metric fittings for the brakes and can make up ss braided lines to make hoses..

Why did it take so long to get the registration ? Larry and I just had to stand in line for 30 minutes at DMV and pay $52.00, and we left with a temp operating pirmit good for 3 months !!! Gotta love California !!!

What do they inspect, the welds ? or just the brakes and stuff ?

Different states or for that matter each inspector will look for different things...DOT requirement stuff..Lights, front and back brakes, turn signals, horn, maybe look at a few other things.
From what Harold Halliburton says, in middle Tn. they are so wowed out. that they just stared at it...and forgot everything else.. I think that it's going to be easier than ya think Kliff once ya get past the paper work..finding someone that hnows how to generate the paper work at the court house is the main problem..
Eddie is having a problem in his area, they told him at the court house to try to get Nashville to do it..and of course he's at a dead end..but still trying.
Mine was the motor, new Mexican long block..no numbers stamped anywhere..had to point out on the sales reciet where it came from and the reason it had 0 miles on it..
