Larry stopped by a while ago, and he has enough cash to get er registered we think, so were goin to DMV tomorrow and get his temporary operating permit. That will give him about 2 or 3 months to get a brake and lamp inspection, and make an appointment for a VIN Number assignment with the California Highway Patrol. Brake and lamp inspection is about $20.00, and the VIN number is free, but they only do those 1 day a month. I figure it will be around 55 to 65 dollars to get the registration. In 2003, mine was $45.00 out the door. Damm inflation !!! I should have him on the road this weekend !!! Just need to finish wireing the relay for the front brakelite switch, install the horn and button, then raise the rear suspension 1 inner spline, replace the rear shoes and wheel cylinders, and paint the rims and drums. It's been a very long year... 7-22-05 is when the bug rolled in, so were just under a year on this one. That's a far cry from the 23 days I built mine in. It sucks getting old and slow... LOL

Although the clutch is pretty easy on this trike, it's is still hard for me to push it because larry has short legs, and I built it for Larry's comfort... My left leg is bent too much to get any power to the pedal, so im leaving the test ride up to Larry. LOL He won't be using 1st gear anyway, unless he goes offroad and wants to crawl, so he won't be doin any wheelies. Were going to DMV tomorrow, and get his temp operating permit, so when it's finished, he can just get on it and ride. He got insurance on it today thru Geico, for $77.00 a year !!! I pay $96.00 a year, but he got a discount because he took a motorcycle saftey course a while back... I wired the front brake light switch to the relay tonight, and I think we need to get a new switch. It works, but sometimes ya have to play with it... it had some melting issues in the past, and I gave it my best, but ya can't polish a terd... All thats left is rear brakes, wheel cyls, raise the suspension, bleed the front brake, and mount the horn. Yipeeeeeee !!!

IWe just came back from DMV, and he never did one before, so I had to tell him what to do. LOL Needless to say, we have to get a brake and lamp inspection. LOL The lady we talked to first thought we didn't get a temp until we took it on a trailer for a VIN at CHP, and I had to teach her too. LOL Anyway, we got a temporary good until the end of september, and we got out of there for $52.00 total...

Tore the rear brakes apart today... need to get new axel seal kits as I forgot those when I got the rest of the stuff... and had to remove the right backing plate because the adjusters were super stuck, and I couldn't budge them even with a hammer and a punch... Thats stuck !!! Earl will be back from camping with his son on tuesday, and I'll have em take the torch to em... So all is well, and this is the finishing stretch... He should be ridin it by wednesday... We already have the temp op permit and insurance, so he's good to go...

Worked until 4am last night, and got the left rear raised and the new brakes and wheel cylinder on, all but torque the big nut. Didn't want to wake the neighbors. I must have overdone it because I put my leg on this morning, and I can't put any weight on it without terrible pain, so im hidin out today. I'll try again tonight around 10 or 11 when it cools off. I can't stop now even for a day. Larry will have a heart attack !!! I may be workin out of the wheelchair tonight. I don't know how Trader does it. I tried it for a day when I was haveing all the probs with the old leg, and got very little done in several hours. Wheelchair mechanics must be an artform... I thought it was very difficult that way... May not have a choice tonight though... I can't wimp out now !!! May the force be with me...

Hang in there man.....and remember what you're always telling me....don't OVER DO! The set backs ain't worth the gains......Larry will survive, and I'm sure understand.
As for Trader, and his wheel chair mechanics......I'm still blown away by it..........

Well, last night, at about 2am, Larry and I headed out for town and rode around a little so he could get used to his new trike... We came back here after coffee and stuff, and at 4:15am, he put his Harley in my shop and headed for home on his new trike. He called me about 45 minutes later to let me know he made it with no problems. As of today, IM FREE !!! and it feels great !!! Break time !!! He said the brakes are like power brakes, they don't pull, and the steering is straight as an arrow. He said it pulls like a horse and runs like a dream !!! ;D
