bitten by trike bug

OK I admit I've been bitten by the bug.

Plans are in the works for my own VW trike as soon as I finish the one we're building for a customer.

The more I work on the "nuthertrike" the more I think of things I'd do differant or set ups I'd like to try.

So the ideas are now buzzing around in my skull and soon I'll be triking along with the rest of you.

No I'm not selling any of my bikes and I'm not changing the shop to just trikes. But I can see a really lucritive avenue of my pent up creativity.

Nah don't sell nothing......but when one of those border runs comes along....heeehheee....at least ya can't fall over at stop signs..... ;D

It happens that way..
Anyone can buy a cookie cutter trike, but creating a one of a kind is where it's at.
LET the imagination flow....
Most trikes are owned by the over 50's generation.
So it's nitch market.
I've had many offers from local people to build for them and even buy the one I'm building, but that would take the fun out of doing it..
I kinda put the figures down on paper and came up with about $5000 investent with every thing new except the trans., torsion and the front end..not counting my time..so their is a good profit margin..

The customer I'm building the "nuthertrike" for and I are working out a business deal to produce a limited number of trikes for sale. I've got fiberglass body mold that we made from the body of the nuthertrike so we can pull bodies at will. As a custom shop owner I've got the parts end at cost. I've also got a guy that builds VW sand rails in line for most of the frame work. I'm thinking we can pull these off with a modest investment per unit and still have a good profit margin. All using top of the line parts. I refuse to let junk leave my shop so these will be runners and not cookie cutters by anymeans. Each one will be unique and stand alone.

The nuthertike as ended up as a test bed for future production.

Sounds like ya got a plan Doug. Glad to here it.
You'll be able to go as big as you want.....the prospective buyers wre out there, and with guys like the "Glassman" backed up, and experiencing all sorts of difficulties, it won't take long for a qualiyu glass body supplier and frame builder to sell all you can make.
As soon as you have prototypes, get me some pics.....we'll do a whole spread for ya to compliment what you put on your site.

Mmmmmmmm. lets see..
Right now it' costing me $125.00 for a roll of matt, and $100.00
for 5 gallon pail of resin and hardener..with no business breaks on the price..
Their's a couple that are just starting up on building bodies posted on the Brothers of the Third Wheel sight that ya might use as a backup for bodies, if ya get in a pinch..
I'm not advertising for anyone, but ya never know...
New long blocks are getting hard to find and expensive..most of the Mexican ones have been bought up..

And the BIGGEST thing to remember, people come in different sizes..one style will not fit all people..
